More on the $400k condos – Charles Village Lofts
Some people couldn’t believe that they were selling condos for $400,000 on St. Paul St – 1 block over from the Hopkins campus. Here is a photo of the sign:

You can go their website, but there’s really not much there. $400,000! That’s almost as expensive as the Bay Area!
It looks like all the row houses across the street have been condemned… That should make the neighborhood far nicer once they are destroyed and rebuilt! But until then, down the street and around the corner, is the old Pike frat house:

Yipes!

What I like best about high-priced home developments is that, with all their money, they couldn’t get signage without the incorrect apostrophe after the dollar amount.
Why do people DO THIS? $400s is a plural, not a possessive.

I know several Hopkins graduate students who have moved into the building in the past few months.
Try the 200k range instead of 400k. The occupancy rate is currently sitting at 20% for these units, the Charles Village condo market has crashed and the prices have been dropped substantially by the owners. They same folks were building some new, even more expensive and numerous units across the street but the work has been put on permanent hold until The Village Lofts get a reasonable occupancy rate.
700s….make that 600s….uh, we meant 500s. There’s a sign in Elkridge MD announcing new single family homes which seem to be dropping in price repeatedly and yet, construction has not begun. This is happening all over the region. Fall 2007 is very different from Summer 2005.

So are you saying that these Hopkins grad students bought units there for 200k?
