Avoid Doubletree Bellevue Hotel room 530 (A review)
On Tuesday I stayed at the Doubletree Bellevue Hotel. I checked in pretty late (10:45pm) and got room 530.
Room 530 is denoted by the #2 in this picture:

I kind of sensed that there was a lot of road noise when I was getting ready for bed, but once I actually got into bed, the noise was horrible! In particular, the truck traffic really picks up at night!
All night long, there are big rig trucks barrelling up and down the 405 - some of them had such a rumble that it felt as if my room actually shook.
Needless to say, not exactly the best night of sleep I ever got. (Did I even get any?)
That said, the room was ridiculously large - but what good is that if you can’t sleep?
So note to self: next time ask for a room on the West side, not facing 405!

I once was in Chicago and made the mistake of asking for a room at the end of the hall because I figured it would be quieter — away from the elevators and hall traffic. And since it was 20 floors up, I figured street noise wouldn’t be an issue.
Surprise! The street noise was insane, including fire trucks. And even though I was away from the elevators, I was right next to a hidden service elevator shaft, which was in use all night.
There really is no such thing as a quiet hotel room, I’m convinced.

The most quiet hotel room ever: Bethesda Marriott Suites
