Will Great Neck South become Cupertino and have White Flight?

As of last year, the overall Great Neck school population was 20 percent Asian. At Great Neck South High School, one of two high schools in the district, the Asian population was more than 30 percent.
“Could we become a majority Asian district in 10 years?” mused Ronald Friedman, the superintendent of Great Neck schools. “Who knows? It’s possible.”
Uh oh… is my old high school of Great Neck South going to become Cupertino and suffer from the new flavor of White Flight? Will all the bagels and bialys be replaced with cha siu bao?
One thing’s for sure- the old saying “you can’t go home again” is certainly true.

Why can’t you go back? You’re still asian.
If anything, won’t you fit in even better now than before? Although then again, the real question is… would you really want to go back?
